Mt. Asariyama Snowshoeing & Onsen Day Trip
The Mt. Asariyama Snowshoeing & Onsen Day Trip is a perfect way for even beginners to experience the thrill of reaching a winter summit on snowshoes, followed by a hot springs bath at one of the region’s best onsens. The day begins with a 1-hour drive to the Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort, where we’ll ride the ropeway to the high mountain area for easy access to the summit. The ascent starts out flat as we traverse to the base of the final summit area, followed by a gradual incline to the peak of Mt. Asariyama an hour away. The total hiking time will vary between 1.5 – 5 hours depending on ability & conditions, and on clear-weather days offers exceptional views of the surrounding peaks & the Sea of Japan, beautiful snow-laden forests, and a true winter mountain experience. You’ll be well taken care of during the hike, with an experienced nature guide helping you every step of the way. After returning back via the ropeway, we’ll have lunch at the resort restaurant, then drive to Jozankei Onsen Village for a long soak in one of Hokkaido’s best onsens, with indoor & outdoor baths. After the onsen, we can check out some local sightseeing at the onsen village, and then return back to Sapporo for drop-off at any location in the city. This day trip will be a memorable adventure in the Central Mountains of Hokkaido.
