2-Day Tour: Asahidake & Sounkyo Snowshoeing
Make the most of your trip to Hokkaido on a 2-Day Tour with HNT! The tour starts with a drive to Asahikawa for the famous Penguin Parade at Asahiyama Zoo, followed by lunch in Asahikawa and a sake brewery tour. We’ll then make our way to Daisetsuzan N.P. for snowshoeing to Tenninkyo Gorge’s Hagoromo Falls - the highest waterfall in Hokkaido. Overnight at Asahidake Onsen is at an onsen hotel including dinner & breakfast.
On Day 2, we’ll start by riding the Asahidake Ropeway to Sugatami Plateau’s winter wonderland, located at the foot of Mt. Asahidake, reaching steaming fumaroles if conditions permit. In the afternoon, we can visit a few local galleries in Higashikawa (if time permits) on route to Sounkyo Gorge, where we’ll go snowshoeing at the remarkable Sounkyo Gorge 8 Frozen Waterfalls Trail, where frozen waterfalls line the gorge & wildlife spotting is highly likely. Lastly, we’ll take a soothing hot springs bath at a 7th floor onsen with gorge views, and visit the Sounkyo Ice Festival (late Jan. to late March only; entry is self-pay), before driving back to Sapporo. Join us for an unforgettable winter private tour that will be the highlight of your time in Hokkaido!
